Fall is officially here. It’s the best time of the year. I don’t make the rules so no arguing with me. There are so many fun things to do in the fall. I thought I would let you all spend a fall day with me. As a single human, sometimes it’s nice to take ourselves out on a “date” and this has been one of my favorite “day dates” every Saturday lately.
Growing up, and honestly until like 2 years ago, my favorite way to spend a Saturday was sleeping in until I physically couldn’t sleep anymore. Lately though? I love to wake up early. And by early I mean between 7-8am. Don’t shame me, that’s early for me. It gets the day started and leaves so much time for activities, like a fun fall day!
The first thing I do? Skincare. I don’t have a photo of that but that is a must. Especially the sunscreen.
Next, I walk Annie. I actually cannot do anything else until I have walked her. It’s a habit we developed in March of 2020 (IYKYK) and it’s stuck ever since.
As soon as I get back with Annie, it’s time to light a fall day candle. One current obsession? The Happy Elephant candles. And when I say obsessed I mean OBSESSED. After ensuring that my entire house smells like a fall day by lighting multiple candles and turning on multiple wax warmers, I stir up my greens, take my supplements, ground my coffee, and make some avo toast.
Once I have spent ample amount of time with Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, I head out for the next stop on my list. The Farmer’s Market is right down the street from my house now so I get to walk. It’s gotten to be one of the best parts of the week. This time, the Art Fair also happened to be going on right by the Farmer’s Market so I got to explore both!
I get to purchase all of my produce from local farmers which makes my heart so happy. I get to purchase a new bouquet of flowers for myself (channeling my inner Miley) every Saturday, and I get to decide if I want any other random hand-made things that catch my eye along the way. One of the benefits of these single day dates. This day, that happened to be mini donuts from the donut truck. Pumpkin spice mini donuts to be exact.
Once home, it’s time to put everything away. Once it’s all put away, I love love love to make a fall day simmer pot. Lately, I’ve been using 1 apple, 2 cinnamon sticks, a handful of cloves, vanilla extract, and a dash of cinnamon. I put all of that into a pot of 5 cups of water, boil it, then cover and simmer. It smells delicious, can simmer for hours on end, and lasts up to 48 hours. If you’re going to do anything on your fall day date, I recommend making a fall day simmer pot!
Okay so now that all of that is done it’s time to take.a.nap. Spending time outside with my cat is also a must of every single Saturday. Especially on a fall day. Who am I kidding? It’s a requirement every day of the week.
Do you do anything specific to make you fall day a good one? Let me know in the comments. I’m always looking for a fun fall day activity!
