Okay, so if you’ve been on TikTok recently, you’ve probably seen this little recipe for whipped coffee. Apparently, it’s been around forever. But I’m just now seeing it. And besides it being HELLA work for a coffee, it’s HELLA good. It’s what I think about as soon as I get up in the morning. Don’t judge me. I’ve put my own spin on the recipes I’ve seen on TikTok so I thought I would share with all of you.
Oh, you want a storytime to go along with it? Okay, fine. It’s a short-ish story but it’s a story nonetheless. It starts one morning while I’m scrolling through TikTok and I come across this visually appealing video of some coffee drink this girl made. I watch it over and over wondering how she got her coffee to go from dark to light. Then I decide I’m going to try it. So, I head downstairs and open up a k-cup. I add the coffee, the sugar, and the water and get to whisking (with a fork because I don’t have a whisk). After like ten minutes of whisking it doesn’t look any different and the coffee is not dissolved. So, I try again. And again, it doesn’t work. At this point, I’m convinced it’s the k-cup.
Carrie is going to the store and I tell her to grab some instant coffee in the canister. And ask her for a whisk because maybe that’s the problem. She gets home. I add all the ingredients again. And nothing. Cool, cool. By now, I’ve wasted over 30 minutes of my life and lots of coffee and sugar on this. Not that I’m busy doing anything because, ya know, we’re all stuck at home.
Then I head over to my friend’s house to do laundry (don’t come at me, I need clean clothes) and tell her about my dilemma. She informs me that not all coffee is instant coffee. This leads me to look up the kind Carrie brought home. Sure enough, it’s not instant either. How were we supposed to know that? We are a Keurig generation, okay?! So, I do what I’m not supposed to do (I AM SORRY) and run into the store as fast as I can, grab a can of INSTANT coffee, and go back to my friend’s house. Where we add sugar, coffee, and water. And WHAT DO YOU KNOW, IT WORKS! So, if you are planning on doing this, please make sure you’re grabbing actual instant coffee and not regular coffee. This has been your PSA.
For the whipped coffee itself, all you need is:
- 1 TBS of instant coffee
- 1 TBS of sugar
- 1 TBS of hot water
- A whisk
To make the best whipped coffee latte thing you need:
- Almond milk
- Iced coffee
- Creamer
- Ice
- Whipped cream
Then you add those ingredients together and whisk for 5ish minutes. I told you, it’s a lot of work for coffee. But it’s worth it. Then you add some ice to a glass, your favorite almond milk (or any milk I guess), some iced coffee, and some creamer. You’ll add the whipped coffee to the top of that. And then some whipped cream to the top of the whipped coffee. Add your favorite reusable straw and BAM. You got yourself some whipped coffee and you are now a happy, quarantined, human.
