A Dog Cake Smash Session - Life of Becca G The Life of Becca G - Annie

A Dog Cake Smash Session

As you all know, my number one obsession is my dog. Don’t @ me, I don’t want to hear your judgment. Because frankly, I don’t give AF. So, when she turned 1 a couple weeks ago I decided I was going to hire a photographer to do a dog cake smash session. And it turned out to be adorable. So I just wanted to share all the pictures with you and give you inspiration if you’re looking to do something like this for your fur babe.
My wonderful mother made the dog cake specially for Annie for this and it was completely and totally safe for her to eat. I did NOT let her eat the whole thing though because I was not about to deal with her vomiting all night. I’ll put the recipe below!
The photographer was NMT Photography and she did an amazing job. Annie had to be attached to a leash the whole time because there was a cat next door and for some reason, that’s all she was interested in. So thankfully, Nicolle was able to photoshop her leash out of every picture!

Obviously, I’m a little biased but I think these turned out pretty darn perfect. Of course, my dog is the most adorable dog in the entire world (she did get 3rd place in the cutest dog contest for a newspaper after all).
The recipe was found at Must Love Dogs or you can read below!
For the cake:
1 cup of flour or whole wheat flour
2/3 cup of pure pumpkin puree
1 egg
1/2 tablespoon baking soda
1/3 cup all natural peanut butter
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup olive oil
For our frosting:
2/3 cup peanut butter
2/3 cup pumpkin puree
This made 2 round cakes or 12 cupcakes (we did both)

  • I believe this much pumpkin purée is too much for doggies to eat at once. It’ll hive them the runs or stop them up. May be you should check with a vet and post this along with your adorable pictures.
