What if you had an extra day to live life? An extra day to go and do something exciting, something you’ve always wanted to do but didn’t have time? Lucky for you, that’s what you get this year. February has an extra day. It only happens once every four years (which I’m sure you know) so go out and take full advantage. Don’t just sit around thinking “what would you do with an extra day” but go out and DO SOMETHING. Anything. Tell someone you love them. Go out and do something you’ve always wanted to do. Grab lunch with a friend you haven’t seen in a while. Work on that dream of yours. Take the advice of Nike and just do it.
Tragedy strikes often and it doesn’t discriminate. It can happen to anyone at any time. Even to those who seem indestructible. Which means we shouldn’t just be taking advantage of this extra day, but every single day we are here. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life. Working, paying the bills, doing everything we “have” to do. But if we don’t take time to do things for ourselves, what’s the point? If we’re not out here living life to the fullest, what are we even doing? We weren’t born to just work, pay bills, and sleep.
We were born to find out who we are as individuals. What we love to do. Who we love to spend time with. And what makes us happy! So why don’t we do those things? I’m just as guilty of it as the next person but in 2020 I’ve tried to be more mindful of it. I’m trying to put myself out there more, go on more trips, take more time for myself, work on things I am passionate about. And I think YOU should, too.
But back to this Leap Day. If you REALLY can’t think of something to do, I have a few ideas for you. So, you’re welcome.
- Work on that passion project you’ve been putting off.
- Spring cleaning. I know this one isn’t fun. But a clean house is a happy house.
- Go bungee jumping or cliff jumping.
- Take a hot air balloon ride.
- Do some skydiving.
- Try a new restaurant.
- Cook something new.
- Adopt a pet.
- Buy something boujee.
- Do one thing that scares you.
